Elected Positions
The Cree Trappers’ Association is governed by a Board of Directors. Its nine members each represent one of the nine Cree communities in Eeyou Istchee. In the 1970s, it was first decided that the President, Vice President and Secretary-Treasurer, all elected by members, would be full time salaried positions.
The needs of the organization evolved over the years. In 2015, the Secretary-Treasurer position ceased to be an elected position to become a permanent employee position. Since 2017, the Vice-President and another Board Member are both appointed as Officers by the Board of Directors. The President continues to be elected by members.
