Moving forward

Change in governance in 2020

In 2020, the conclusion was that the CTA has continued to change and is considered to be a more strategic organization.

  • Relationships with funding parties have become even stronger.
  • Management has more responsibilities as they took on many of the Vice President’s initial responsibilities. It is very efficient.
  • The organization now sees an overlap between some of the President’s and ED’s responsibilities.
  • This situation leads to a loss of efficiency and creates confusion about who is really in charge and who should do what.

Moving forward, the President should:

  • Occupy a role of CTA representative;
  • Sit on key committees; and
  • Play an advocate’s role.
    • This is the way it is done in other Cree organizations.

The President would:

  • Be appointed
  • No longer be present everyday at the office
  • Not be involved in daily affairs since it is the Executive Director’s role.
  • Be called upon on a needs basis for her/his expertise.
