Training Cree trapping instructors

To train future instructors

In an effort to enhance Cree culture and ethics in furbearer harvesting, the training on trapping is offered in partnership with the Cree Trappers’ Association and the tallymen. 

About This Free Event

Program

The training consists in a 30-hour theoretical and practical course, spanning over 5 days, during which students will learn how to use various gears to trap different groups of species, about the biology of the species, about diseases and parasites, as well as how to handle and prepare fur.
On average, the training will be taught on a 40% classroom and 60% field work.

To trap anywhere in Quebec

Upon successful completion of this course the students will receive their trapping card, giving the, the right to trap anywhere in Quebec. 
It is also an opportunity to train future instructors, by offering them the FTGQ trapping training, the first step to become an instructor.
