MAAMUU
UHPIKAAPUUTAAU
SUMMIT 2023
Thank you
What a success!
It is with much pride that the Cree Trappers’ Association has gathered speakers and participants around the first edition of Maamuu Uhpikaapuutaau Summit 2023 to fulfill its mission of advocating, protecting and promoting Eeyou Pimaatisiiun.
In Mistissini, on August 15 and 16, 2023, and in Chisasibi, on September 13 and 14, 2023, more than 500 participants came together to share ideas and talk about sustainable harvesting, access to the land, species preservation and Cree Way of Life.
We wish to thank wholeheartedly our 25 speakers for sharing their Cree knowledge and our sponsors for making this event possible.
See you next year!

Review the summit's presentations:
Testimonial
-
I enjoyed presentations delivered in Eenou language which addressed matters of interest to the thyme of the conference. The delivery on the plight of Cree hunters, trappers and land users and their concerns were of great interest especially the erosion of the Cree language, landscape, traditions, and culture of the Cree people.
It gave the message of change in Cree people. -
All the people gathered to share and exchange stories/information.
-
It was a great learning experience for me to attend both the inland and coastal.
I learned from others what they face, I had a chance to communicate with some Tallymen and land users individually. -
What did you most enjoy about the conference?
"How good they take care of their people. Love the food too. Traditional medicine was good. The workers were helpful." -
Thank you very much, great job everyone that worked hard for the events. I really enjoyed the time I spent there.
