Code of ethics

All employees and Board Members of the CTA understand the importance of complying with the adopted this Code of Ethics:

The Value of our work

  • We understand the value of time and are punctual: we work diligently when we perform CTArelated work or initiatives.
  • We are loyal and carry out our duties conscientiously and honestly for the greater good of all Eeyou/Eenouch members.
  • We value the programs and services offered to members therefore we remain attentive to our needs and believe in open communication.
  • We do not take part in any unethical or illegal act, including theft. We do not seek personal privileges out of the work we perform for the CTA. If we are aware of such situations, we report it.
  • We use CTA computers for work, not engaging in illegal activities or in gaming, video watching, etc.
  • We do not download or use material, software or intellectual property of others in violation of software licenses, copyright or trademark laws.
  • We will not carry, consume or traffic narcotics (drugs) or alcohol or be under the influence of narcotics or alcohol at any time in the workplace, including any of the businesses, vehicles, service points, etc.

  • We do not make any public statements nor publicly air complaints concerning CTA, any employee or board member of the CTA, including in communication with the media and posting on social media sites.
  • We may, with the explicit permission of our supervisor, use social media to keep Eeyouch/Eenouch informed about the activities of the CTA.

 

Respect for ourselves, members and all living things

  • We treat all living beings with respect and dignity.
  • We do not discriminate against individuals, no matter their age, race, ancestry, colour, ethnic origin, place of origin, religion, disability, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, family status or record of offences.
  • We are polite, we do not use vulgar or rude language or gestures, even jokingly.
  • We display openmindedness and initiative in carrying our mandates to continue to preserve Cree traditional way of life.
  • We pay attention to our image. We are dressed adequately for our function and maintain good hygiene.

 

Ethical behaviour

  • We display integrity in all our actions, conscious that we are representatives of the organization.
  • We declare the gifts received to the SecretaryTreasurer and only accept those of modest value (less than 50$) where a refusal would harm the relationship.
  • We keep the confidentiality of information we obtain while carrying out our functions. We will not disclose confidential information, such as personal information, loans, funding agreements, etc., to others.
  • We appear impartial and free of political influence. We separate personal activities, including political involvement or opinions, from the position we occupy at the CTA.
  • We report any concerns or wrongdoing in a timely matter.
  • We comply with all CTA policies.

We realize that noncompliance with the Code of Ethics is damaging for the CTA and may lead to disciplinary measures or dismissal or expulsion from the Board of Directors.
